This tranquil film explores the local landscapes of Settle, North Yorkshire, through the eyes of a local photography enthusiast. Feelings of solitude are evoked in contrast to the vast landscape, with the tourists that frequent the area portrayed only by their absence.
Taking from the grounding atmosphere found throughout the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, the film was made with the intention of showcasing the environment first and foremost in a way that best conveys its serenity and power.
As such, the protagonist goes unnamed and is rarely the sole focus of what’s on screen, their narration serving as a personal connection and gentle guide to the expansive world on his doorstep. [9 mins]
The film was showcased as part of the exhibitions "Every Leaf Speaks Bliss to Me: Emily, the moors, and the landscape of creative Craven" at Skipton Town Hall to commemorate the launch of 2022 Warner Bros film "Emily", and the "Nurturing Creativity x Folded Zine" young artist showcase at Brewery Arts, Kendal.
Commissioned by Great Place: Lakes & Dales, funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England
